Mexico Beach Day Trip

About 30 mi east — typically 35–45 minutes via US-98

Mexico Beach is a small, low-rise Gulf town about 30–40 minutes east of our properties. Unlike the high-rise stretches of central Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach has held onto its Old-Florida pace — short buildings, a quiet downtown, and a few classic seafood spots worth the drive.

Why guests like it

  • Calmer atmosphere than central PCB.
  • Long stretches of public beach without high-rise shadows.
  • Classic Florida fish camp / casual seafood culture.

Tips from us

  • The drive east on US-98 is part of the appeal — easy coastal road.
  • Bring everything for the beach — no rental shops on the scale of PCB.
  • Some restaurants close earlier than you'd expect — check hours before you commit to a late dinner.

Recovery context (please be respectful)

Mexico Beach was hit hard by Hurricane Michael in 2018 and is still rebuilding. Many businesses have come back, some are still rebuilding. Spend money locally and ask questions — locals are proud of the recovery.

FAQs

Is Mexico Beach the same as Panama City Beach?

No — they're two different beach towns. Mexico Beach is smaller, quieter, and about 30–40 minutes east of central PCB. Same Gulf, very different feel.
